Reading comprehension question sticks.
So I officially start back work tomorrow although it seems like I have been working all summer making things for my classroom. Here are two of the latest things I have made. 1. Days of the week labels for my magazine boxes that match my room. And 2. These comprehension questions. I am going to cut them out and glue them onto popsicle sticks for my guided reading table. I am so thrilled with how they came out. Best part about them is that you get them for free!! Yay for back to school!. I am working on trying to figure out how to post pictures of my awesome classroom but I am having trouble making it look nice....still new to this blogging thing! Hope you enjoy the freebie, let me know if you use them!

where am I labels
Gosh, I find that I am not good at this blogging thing. Instead of once a week, I changed my goal to twice a month. If I am this bad in the summer I will be terrible come real work time. So here are some where am I labels that I plan to use on the side of my file cabinet with magnets for the kids. I got the idea from pinterest. Mrs. Gueho and abilities are our intervention people but so others could use it I made an intervention label as well. |

Common Core posters
Wow...so I started out my summer thinking I could blog twice a week but that was before I was introduced to A Song of Ice and Fire series. I have spent all my free time reading. I finished the 3rd book today and instead of starting on the 4th I figured I would get some work done. So here are my 3rd grade common core, owl theme, posters. I plan on doing some for 1st and 2nd as well and I will post them as soon as I make them. I hope you enjoy them.Graphics by Jw illustrations

Student retell rope
I have already been very busy this summer. It seems like the summer is almost gone:( I am getting over my summer cold...seems like it always happens to teachers....when you have a break...you will get sick. It seems like I haven't really gotten to rest. Here is the latest thing I have created. I was inspired by pinterest..of course. It is a kid size retell rope for them to make and color. I have flipped the images so it can be two sided and easier to assemble. For younger kids it might be easier to draw a square around the "characters" to make them easier to cut. Then you glue them together with a piece of ribbon or yarn in the middle. I think by letting kids build the rope themselves it will be more likely to "stick" in their heads. I did not include the words beginning, middle, and end for the back pieces but they are colored the same color. Once it is finished children can hang in on their desk or take it with them as they are reading to each other. Hope you enjoy.

Entering into the world of blogging
I LOVE the world of teacher blogs. It is such a wonderful and giving community. I have finally decided to be a part of it and contribute some of the work that I do. I have been doing a lot of research and I have decided to implement the Daily 5 in my classroom for next year. I will still be required by my school to use the basal but that is the great thing about the Daily 5, you can use it no matter your situation. Here is a poster/anchor chart I created for Stamina....I thought it would be good for a 1st post. I am also working on Common Core posters but who knows how long those will take me. I will, however, post them when I am done.
